March 9th, 2011: Skeleton Racing
Skeleton is a very fast winter sliding sport in which an individual person rides a small sled down a frozen track while lying face down and moving head first. Angie-style skeleton racing involves hurtling down a hill head first, face down attached to 5 sheep and - you guessed it - a long line and dog attached. Yep, I did a really spectacular face plant this week and what was most spectacular was I had an audience to cheer me on. Perhaps I should have got them to hold up score cards. I might not have done well on style points! Once again Jamie saved my bacon. This is getting a bit routine for my liking...which perhaps explains how I can keep my cool in these situations. I think the spectators were more panicked than me! Another ruined t-shirt!
It's been a while since I updated my blog and remembering all the happenings is like trying to remember what I had for dinner yesterday. I do know I've spent all day, every day with dogs. I've managed to lose my mobile phone and whistle...and somewhere in there, I should add I've probably lost my marbles as well. I have spent many hours walking the hill trying to find my whistle!!! No luck. It is MIA and I'm not expecting to ever get it back.
The flu finally visited Ffos Y Fran as well, so the last week or so has been at half speed.
Good news! My new wellies have arrived. Dry feet are in my future. Yippee.
My new book arrived on Friday. :-) I am slowly getting all pre-orders out. The book is going to be at Crufts this weekend. CRUFTS!!! Who would have thought?
Kelvin arrived home on Monday after two weeks teaching in India. Unfortunately he arrived home sick! I'll get some photos on the website soon. Some of them are spectacular. Here's what hill farming in northern India looks like. Not much in the way of grass!

Trials start in two weeks. Better go start turning my dogs from fat blobs into racing machines. |
